Letstart provides assistance to households who are at risk of losing their home to find alternative accommodation.

Letstart offers:-
• free property finder service for tenants who are at risk of homelessness
• choice of good quality properties
• choice of location within Wealden District
• help with a deposit (subject to eligibility) through the Letstart Guarantee
• landlords willing to accept the Local Housing Allocawance.

Local Housing Allowance

The Local Housing Allowance is the Housing Benefit system that assists tenants who are renting accommodation from a private landlord, to meet their rent payments.

Local Housing Allowance is:-
• the amount of money a household may receive from the government so that they can pay the rent
• based upon the number of bedrooms a household needs and
• the average rent for properties of that size in a geographical area (Broad Market Rental Area)

To find out more about the Local Housing Allowance, check the number of bedrooms your household would quality for and the current rent level you would be awarded by entering the property postcode at the LHA site.

Who can to use Letstart?

Letstart may be able to assist you if you:-
• are over 18
• registered on Wealden District Council's housing register
• are threatened with homelessness
• have a good track record from previous accommodation of rent payment and conduct
• have limited financial means

How to search for properties

Searching for available properties to rent is easy. Just enter your requirements in the search bar above for:-
• the area you wish to live in
• the number of bedrooms you require
• the type of property you would prefer
• the maximum rent you are entitled to through the Local Housing Allowance

Click on the search button on the left hand side. All available properties meeting your requirements will appear. You can broaden your search by leaving one or all of the boxes in the search bar blank and all properties in that criteria will be shown.
